CAPE GIRARDEAU - Joseph Wolsey, 88, died Aug. 31, 2006, at Heartland Care and Rehab in Cape Girardeau.
Born May 1, 1918, in Cape Girardeau, son of the late Joseph and Minnie Wolsey, he was a member of Old St. Vincents Church, a 32nd degree Mason of St. Mark's Lodge, a journeyman for five different teamsters unions, a member of Cape Girardeau Stock Car Association and from 1966 to 1970 was on its board of directors. He was on SEMO District Fair Board from 1963 to present and worked 10 years for the city of Cape as park superintendent, retiring in 1986.
In Jonesboro, Ark. he married Demova Reed who preceded him in death in June 1992.
One sister also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: three sons, Thomas Wolsey and Terry Wolsey of Cape Girardeau and Jerry Wolsey of Chaffee; and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday with Masonic Services at 7 p.m. at Ford and Sons Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
