EAST PRAIRIE - Edward Delene Morgan, 82, died Sept. 1, 2006, at his home.

Born Sept. 5, 1923, at Belknap, Ill., to the late Samuel and Mamie Miller Morgan, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County, the past 18 years in East Prairie. He was employed as a supervisor with Brown Shoe Co. in Charleston until his retirement and was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church in Charleston. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he was the last surviving World War II POW in Mississippi County and was a life member of the VFW and DAV.

On Jan. 31, 1944, he married Lula Mae Hanes who preceded him in death Jan. 1, 1986. On Sept. 9, 1992, he married Arlene Duty, who preceded him in death on May 21, 2002.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and three grandsons, Danny Gene Morgan Jr., Edward D. Morgan, III and Sean Morgan.

Survivors include: five sons, Edward D. Morgan Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz., Dennis Morgan and Danny Morgan of Sikeston, David Morgan of St. Louis and Dale Morgan of Riverside, Calif.; two daughters, Diane Cain of Charleston and Deborah McCurter of East Prairie; one sisters, Margie Sands of the state of Oklahoma; and 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two great-

great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, The Rev. Jon Archie, pastor of the Elm Street Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Burial with full military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
