Area firms donate equipment

BENTON - Two local merchants have shown their support by making equipment donations to the Scott County Sheriff's Department.

Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter said that Minor Harley Davidson in Scott City donated a 2007 Suzuki four-wheel-drive four-wheeler, valued at $6,899, and Trailer Express in Miner donated a trailer valued at $800.

Walter said this equipment will be very valuable in the search and rescue function and for drug eradication.

"This was equipment that we would not be able to go out and buy, but that will help us in our work, such as the search we conducted a couple weeks ago, where we were out all night looking for a 13-year-old, who showed up the next day," Walter said.

"We fund our search and rescue function with time, equipment and a dog provided by active and reserve members, and this kind of gift really is a great assist," Walter added.
