SIKESTON - The list of 18 applicants for the postmastership of Sikeston shrank to three today. The Civil Service announced that Ewart Taylor, Herman Poe and Donald Pasaka are eligible for the position. One of them may be nominated by President Lyndon Johnson. The U.S. Senate must approve the nomination.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Jaycees have implemented a new ticket option for those wanting to attend the 35th annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo. Season tickets will be sold beginning Monday for the rodeo, which is scheduled Aug. 6-9.
SIKESTON - The city's efforts through its participation in the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving program was recognized for its success at the recent Midwest Conference in St. Louis. Department of Public Safety Chief Jim Leist attended the February conference, and for the third year was invited to teach at several of the sessions during the three-day event.
ORAN - The key word for the 1A District II boy's and girl's tournament this year is REPEAT, as both defending champions came away with their titles still intact. The Lady Bobcats of Delta were defeated by Scott County Central, 58-50. In the boy's game, the Richland Rebels defeated the Delta Bobcats, 76-67.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston eighth grade volleyball team hosted the Caruthersville Tigers Thursday night in the Field House. Sikeston lost the game 2-1.
