Born Oct. 1, 1942, in Mississippi County, Mo., son of the late Welton E. and Ovella Stokes Scott, he was employed as a roofer for Day Home Improvement in East Alton, retiring in 2006.
In September 1993, in Edwardsville, he maried Marlowe Carter who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include: one daughter and son-in-law, Penney and Matthew Hammock of Wood River; one stepdaughter, Kinda Huch of East Alton; three brothers, Samuel Scott of Anniston, Mo., Donald Scott of Charleston, Mo., and Bennie Scott of Glasgow; three sisters, Opal Parham of Sikeston, Mo., Doris Little of East Prairie, Mo., and Martha Jackson of Glasgow, Ky.; and one grandson.
Three daughters, Kathy Scott, Rebecca Scott and Robin Scott; one sister, Mildred Greer; and two brothers, Chester Scott and J.W. Scott, preceded him in death.
Services were conducted today at Elias-Smith Funeral Homes and Crematory in Bethalto.
Burial folled in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens at Bethalto.
