DEXTER - Bids for construction of Dexter Memorial Hospital will be opened Nov. 23, it was reported to the hospital board of directors meeting Monday. The date has been cleared with officials of the Department of Health at Jefferson City.

PORTAGEVILLE - Cooperation and community involvement were the recurring themes of speeches given during the Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet which was highlighted by the honoring of a business woman and a local farmer. Betty Drerup was named Business Woman of the Year and Farmer of the Year is Wallace Kellams.
SIKESTON - Local youngsters from age 3 to 93 have an opportunity to see a real masterpiece of modern stagecraft and costuming when the live-on-stage production of "Cinderella" is presented here Nov. 18 at the Old Middle School gymnasium on Tanner Street. Proceeds from the show are used by the Sikeston Arts and Education Council to sponsor the cultural and educational programs presented in the Sikeston school system each year.
EAST PRAIRIE - Nature lovers and bicyclists will soon have a new trail to blaze. According to David Cox, Enterprise Community Project coordinator in East Prairie, the Lower Mississippi Delta Development Center in Memphis, Tenn. will develop a bicycle trail from New Orleans, La., to Ste. Genevieve. Cox met with Mississippi County Commissioners to ask for their endorsement of the trail and accept its passage through Mississippi County.

Conference team. Members of the team are Corey Goetz, Josh Hairston, Andrew Lawson, Jamie McCoy and Matt Shelton.
