SIKESTON - About 25 people and organizations in Sikeston have contributed money, clothes, soap and toys for the people of Vietnam, Mrs. Ralph Carroll of the American Legion Auxiliary, said today.


SIKESTON - The Rev. James C. Fitch resigned as pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church Wednesday night, effective Nov. 21. He will begin duties Dec. 1 as editor of Church Administration Products with the Southern Baptist Sunday School Board in Nashville, Tenn.


SIKESTON - The Sikeston United Fund Drive passed the halfway mark today with a total of $17,943.76 reported collected or pledged. That is more than half of the $33,400 goal.

SIKESTON - The Kmart Department Store at the Kingsway Mall is close to schedule for its Nov. 28 grand opening. Dennis Speier, store manager, reports. Speier said the store will feature its price program, every day meeting lower prices from competition. "I'll take ads from competitors 20 miles from here," said Speier. "I'll take anybody's raincheck, even a catalog ad with freight included."

SIKESTON - The Bulldogs (5-4) will play the final game on the schedule tonight against Poplar Bluff (4-5). Sikeston running back Marc Blissett leads the area in rushing with 1,351 yards (212 yards better than his nearest competitor), Sikeston receiver Tyrone Mosely leads the area in receptions and yardage (32-559 yards) and quarterback Dez Ziegenhorn is fourth on the area's passing list (56-104-4, 915 yards, 58.2 percent) and needs only 85 yards to reach the magical 1,000 yard mark.
