EAST PRAIRIE - Billy Gene Grigsby, 69, died at 9:33 p.m. June 9, 2006, at his home.
Born Aug. 11, 1936, in the Yellow Dog community near East Prairie, son of the late Walter and Veda Lillian Berry Grigsby, he lived in Mississippi County most of his life. Employed with the Mississippi County Highway Department, he was a member of the First Christian Church in East Prairie and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
On Feb. 24, 1958, he married Cornelia Ruth Gulledge who survives of the home.
Other surviving include: one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Christy Grigsby of East Prairie; three brothers, Claron Grigsby of S. Roxanna, Ill., and Kenneth Grigsby and Gerald Grigsby of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Emma Jean Ivie and Lavern Richards of East Prairie; and two grandchildren, Brittany Grigsby and Josh Grigsby of East Prairie.
Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Monday. George White and Larry Lane will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Stevenson Cemetery near Dexter with military graveside rites conducted by the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Pallbearers will be Harold Lemons, Milas Mainord, Randy Woods, Ted Hutchison, Kevin Gulledge and Jim Blumenberg.
