Hess withdraws name from presiding commissioner race

Wednesday, April 12, 2006

CHARLESTON -- The race for presiding county commissioner in Mississippi County will now be decided during the August primary election.

Gary L. Hess, who filed as a Republican for the position, has withdrawn his candidacy, according to the Mississippi County clerk's office.

Only four Democrats remain in the presiding county commissioner's race: incumbent Jim Blumenberg, Clark Dugan, Jack Feezor and Dr. Donald Raithel.

Hess is the second candidate to drop as C. David Williams of Charleston, who filed as a Democrat, withdrew from the race Friday.
