BENTON -- A case involving stolen tools and materials from the Kelly High School construction site in Benton was solved with the arrest and confession of an East Prairie man.
Beachie Todd Johnston, 37, of East Prairie was charged with felony stealing in the theft from the Kelly site, according to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter.
The theft, which occurred sometime in the last two weeks, was reported to the sheriff's department on Jan. 26. Assistance from a local businessman led to the suspect and the recovery of the tools valued at $900, Walter said.
Johnston, who posted a $10,000 bond, is scheduled to appear before Scott County Associate Circuit Judge Scott Horman on March 7.
