SIKESTON - The Rev. J.F. Worthington, 71, left his earthly home and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007.
Born Oct. 5, 1935, at Vernon, Fla., to the late Ira G. Worthington and Marie G. Hydle, he served in the U.S. Air Force for nearly 10 years. He was in the ministry for 44 years, served as a pastor in the Sikeston area for over 20 years and was past-president of the Scott County Foster Parents Association.
On Nov. 17, 1955, in Rossville, Ga., he married Mildred Elizabeth Ferris, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank and Alisa Worthington, David and Sonya Worthington and Steven Worthington of Sikeston; nine grandchildren and spouses, Rachel Worthington, Rebecca Worthington, Beth and Tim Gallagher, Sam and Lacy Worthington, Emily Thompson, Candy Worthington, Jennifer Worthington, Matt Sautter and Jordan and Troy Wade; and three great-grandchildren, Adam and Aubree Gallagher and Jeremiah Wade.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Delton and Delbert Worthington.
Visitation will be held from 3 until 6 p.m. Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Church on the Rock, Highway 60 West, in Sikeston. The Rev. Curtis True will officiate.
Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery at Sikeston.
