SpeakOut 3/18

Tuesday, March 18, 2008

The article on the front page of your newspaper regarding the lock down at the 7th and 8th Grade Center was incorrect. The parents were NOT contacted during the lockdown by the school's automatic system. We were notified AFTER the lock down and the children were released. As parents, we should be notified WHEN the lock down occurred - not afterward.

There is really a terrible lack of appreciation regarding personal property in delivery of this newspaper by a delivery person who turns around in my circle drive and cuts the corner off in my grass, disregarding the nice gravel drive I have provided. Less than 100 feet is this horseshoe drive. Delivery is completed in less than three seconds, therefore making it impossible to stop them and ask them to stay on the road and slow down. God forbid if someone happens to be in this place at the time of delivery, for they will surely be injured.

Call back with your address and we will solve this problem!

I'm wondering if anyone raises canaries and have some for sale. I am interested in females and males. You can reach me at 573-233-5443. Please leave a message.

Are you interested in anything other than males or females?

Here we go again. It is March 7, and we have bad weather, yet the schools don't care enough about our children to let them stay safe at home. How many times this year will all other schools in our area, including Sikeston, expect the public school system to care enough to keep us off the roads with our babies? Had I kept mine home like I wanted, she would have been "absent." So instead I got out on these wet snowy roads to take her to school only to pick her up three hours later. I feel just as irritated about the half days we attend. The students don't learn much on those days, but if parents have jobs and no babysitters they are pulled away from work to accommodate the system. Come on parents, let's find a way to be one voice instead of a few parents that have had enough. I for one would be willing to step up to the plate for what I feel needs to be done. If you would like to join "one voice" contact me at jules2100@yahoo.com. I am tired of our children paying for the lack of concern from our school system.

Number one, if you receive a flyer in the mail saying you might have won something, don't fall for it. Number two, they are not in the "give me" business. Number three, you will get a cash card, which is a rip off for $1,000 shopping spree, which you could buy at Wal-Mart. It will cost you more in shipping and handling fees than it would to just go the Dollar General and buy it. Also you will get a call for gas that when you mail in to receive it, it's a rip off. You have to pay to send it in, and you never receive it. From me to you, don't fall for it. Don't even go. Don't waste the gas, it's too expensive.

Is there anybody in this area that works on fiberglass boats and fixes holes and stuff like that?

To this little gentleman that's a-running up and down and a-tearing up our back alleys to where it can't be mowed and the people's yards. I guess he does this to get a charge or a rise or whatever you might call it. I think there can be something planted out there to really give him a charge. And I'm going to see if I can get something done about it, and I pray that you will print this.

I would like to say thank you to all the people at Ag-Mart that helped me get back on my feet after my house burnt on Marian. I wanted to say thank you. We appreciate everything you done and may God bless you.
