SIKESTON -- A Sikeston man facing charges for a shooting last week will be arraigned Tuesday.
Stacy L. Townsend, 34, has been charged with unlawful use of a weapon by the Scott County Prosecutor's Office for the shooting which reportedly occurred at around 10:20 p.m. Aug. 23 in front of 817 Ruth, according to the Sikeston Department of Public Safety.
DPS responded to the scene after a report of several shots fired around the 800 block of Ruth.
Upon arriving in the area, a responding officer located a vehicle in front of 819 Ruth that had been shot with a firearm. Officers searched the area and located items of evidence indicating the shooting occurred nearby and noticed the residence at 817 Ruth has also been struck by gunfire.
A witness at the scene stated they had seen the shooting occur. This witness told officers she saw a subject identified as Townsend with a gun firing at a parked vehicle.
Townsend was the victim of a shooting that occurred near this location on Aug. 7 but investigators reportedly have no reason to believe the two shootings are related at this time.
Townsend is presently being held in the Scott County Jail with a cash or surety bond set at $100,000.
