Biking isn't the only source of entertainment in East Prairie this weekend. It is the beginning of the Sweet Corn celebration, which continues through the Fourth of July. Here's a glimpse of a few other activities planned for this weekend:
Scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, the event, themed "Lost in the Fifties Tonight," will feature live musical entertainment, a jitterbug contest, hula hoop contest and fifties dress contest, in addition to a crawdad boil, soul food, food vendors and children's games. An Elvis impersonator is set to appear, a group of local talent will present "Bringing Back the Stars," and the night will wrap up with a patriotic musical presentation, "Tribute to America," at 9 p.m.
Open to all ages, this event is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Friday Registration is $20 and each participant gets a T-shirt.
There are separate male and female divisions and the 5K Walk is open to all ages.
