BERTRAND -- Vera Lou Black, 65, died at 2:13 a.m. Feb. 1, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Oct. 28, 1941, at Bell City, daughter of Lucille Taylor of Bertrand and the late Yewell Aubrey Taylor, she was a retired farmer and a member of Trinity Methodist Church in Oran.
On July 29, 1983, she married Darrell Black Jr. who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, David Black of Shiloh, Ill., and Michael Black of Bertrand; four daughters, Karen Dunn and Sherry Newton of Enid, Miss., Sandy Friga of Oran and Cindy Taylor of Sikeston; four brothers, Junior Taylor of Bertrand and Glen Taylor, Larry Taylor and Ricky Taylor of Benton; one sister, Beverly Allred of Sikeston; and 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her father, one daughter Carolyn Jane; one sister, Shirley Warren; one granddaughter and one grandson also preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran The Rev. Jeff Reeves officiated.
Burial followed in the New Morley Cemetery at Morley.
Pallbearers were: Adam Friga, Craig Friga, John DeBrock, Andrew Taylor, David Dunn and Steven Black.
