PUXICO - Lamar Harkness, 79, died Feb. 3, 2007, at Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born Nov. 20, 1927, in Pontotoc, Miss., son of the late Connie Clarence and Ather Beatrice Williams Harkness, he moved to Missouri in 1955. He had lived since 1962 in the Puxico area where he was a carpenter, a carpet layer and a member of the Church of Christ.
On Dec. 12, 1955, in Rockford, Ill., he married Lottie B. Baker who preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2002.
Also preceding him in death were: one daughter, Judy Juanita Finch in 1973; one stepson, William J. Crutchfield; one brother, Clarence Eugene Harkness; and one sister, Beatrice Euree Holland.
Survivors include: one daughter, April Lovell of Dexter; two brothers, George Henry Travis Harkness of Dexter and Lewis Herbert Harkness of Coal Hill, Ark.; one sister, Doris Ann Thompson of Dexter; and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday. Dale Grissom of Dexter will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
