JEFFERSON CITY -- Jeffrey Tillman "J.T." Newman, 33, died Jan. 27, 2007, in St. Louis.
Born Aug. 20, 1973, in Hayti, to Henry T. "Sonny" Newman of Sikeston and the late Maxine Lyles, he was a 1991 graduate of Hayti High School and attended Lincoln University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in agriculture and a master's degree in business administration. He was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity and had served with the U.S. Army National Guard. He was sales representative/operator of Jay's Electronics and Misc. Items LLC in Jefferson City, recreational worker at Algoa Correctional Center and a United Parcel Services manager.
In addition to his father, survivors include: his stepmother, Nita Newman of Sikeston; his grandmother, Quillar Mae Robinson of Hayti; one son, Armon Adams of St. Louis; one daughter, Briana Morgan of Overland Park, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Tiffany Morgan of Overland Park; three sisters, Gwendolyn Johnson of Kennett, Stephanie Donald of Elgin, Ill., and Yvette Robinson of Aurora, Ill.; three stepsisters, Anickia Hubbard of Wahiawa, Hawaii, Renee and Jackie of Cape Girardeau and Judy of St. Louis; two stepbrothers, Dwight of Fort Worth, Texas, and Anthony of Cape Girardeau; and a special friend, LaShaunda "Holly" Washington.
Services were conducted Saturday at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ at Hayti. The Rev. Darion Thomas officiated.
Burial followed in the Homestown Cemetery in Homestown.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers were: Nizer Newman, Billy Newman, Lawrence Newman, Wayne Robinson, Frederick Robinson, John R. Robinson, Walter Robinson Jr., Bruce Robinson, Kerry Robinson, Roland Johnson and N.C. Donald.
Carter Funeral Home of Caruthersville was in charge of arrangements.
