CHARLESTON -- Walter Herman Ivie, 68, died at 4:45 a.m. Aug. 15, 2006, at his home.
Born Jan. 28, 1938, in Mississippi County, son of the late Oscar Herman and Ethel Lindsey Ivie, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life. He was employed at the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston for 37 years until his retirement and was a member of the Charleston Church of Christ.
On Nov. 25, 1956, he married Shirley Shankle, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Larry Ivie of Diehlstadt; one daughter, Debbie Ivie of Charleston; six brothers, Ray Ivie and Jimmy Ivie of East Prairie, Roy Ivie of Benton, Russell Ivie of Silver Spring, Fla., Ralph Ivie of Goldsboro, N.C. and Barry Ivie of Three Rivers, Mich.; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Rickey Lee Ivie; and two sisters, Geneva Childers and Martha Bennett.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday. Bill Bradley, minister of the Morley Church of Christ, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery near Charleston.
