SIKESTON - Leisure time on the weekends is not experienced by all workers in the Sikeston area. Sikeston Public Safety officer Sgt. John Mallott is among those who work on the weekends. The fire divisions PSOs perform a variety of tasks from rolling fire hose and inspecting equipment to basic housekeeping chores. The fire division is required to work in 24-hour shifts, which requires officers to complete kitchen duties and other simple chores between fire calls. Mallott spent time painting lockers for use within the department.
