MARBLE HILL --Avery Rosewell Crites Jr., 93, died July 13, 2008, at the Clearview Nursing Home in Sikeston.
Born May 30, 1915, in Lutesville, son of the late Avery Rosewell and Sadie Ellen Hahn Crites, he was a retired oil distributor for Standard Oil, a former mayor of Lutesville, a Lutesville volunteer firefighter, a former member of the Lutesville City Council and a member of the Marble Hill First Baptist Church.
On June 1, 1935, he married Freda Mae James who preceded him in death on June 26, 2007.
One sister, Cleo Long, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law Larry and Liz Crites of Cortland, Ohio; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Chuck Grant of Sikeston and Fay and Mike Seabaugh of Mountain Home, Ark.; one brother, John E. Crites of Cape Girardeau; one sister, Viola Mayfield of Advance; and eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 5:30 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Fred Ritter, Todd Seabaugh, Brad Seabaugh, Chip Grant and Bart Grant will officiate.
Entombment will follow in the Crites family mausoleum at Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery.
