SIKESTON-- Frances Anne Sitzes, 87, died July 14, 2008, at Westridge Place in Sikeston.
She was born July 30, 1920, in Sikeston, to the late Jacob Marion Sitzes and Anna Whitener Sitzes of Sikeston.
She retired from the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, where she served as the assistant to the administrator for most of her career. She lived most of her life in Sikeston and was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Sikeston P.E.O Chapter.
She is survived by one sister, Grace Marie Watkins, of Farmington; three nieces, Jan Georgen of Webster Groves, Fran Meador of Nashville and Susan McDonald of Eagle River, Alaska; and one nephew, Edward A. Sitzes of Brackettville, Texas. Also surviving are nine great- nieces; three great-nephews, four great-great nieces and five great-great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jacob "Jake" Marion Sitzes Jr. and Robert Joseph Sitzes; and two nephews, Jacob "Jay" Marion Sitzes III and Robert William Sitzes.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ponder Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10 am. Friday at the First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor, and the Rev. Jeremiah Reeve, associate pastor, will be officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Sikeston City Mausoleum.
Pallbearers will be Brady Georgen, Michael Meador, Marcia Dajches, Nancy Walker, Dylan Mason and David Curry.
