TRI to invade town for rally this week

Sunday, July 20, 2008

SIKESTON -- Beginning this Wednesday, July 23, Sikeston-Miner will be invaded with Trike Bikes! These three wheeled motorcycle aficionados are coming to Sikeston-Miner for their very first TRI Rally, something organizers hope to make an annual event!

Through the efforts of the Convention & Visitors Bureau, along with many other residents of our area, we have luckily secured this event to be held July 24, 25 and 26th. We expect that as many as 1000 "trikers" will participate in this rally, to be held at the Clinton Building and the Sikeston Factory Outlet Stores.

The rally includes a 'Trike Rodeo,' a Trike Light Parade, an area wide Scavenger Hunt and a Trike Show. The Trike Show will be held in the lot across from Orschelen's on East Malone Avenue. The bikers will also travel to the Stars and Stripes Museum in Bloomfield. This convoy will take place on Friday morning. So, don't be surprised if you see a couple of hundred Trikes going west on Malone Avenue and then south on Main Street. This will surely be a sight we don't see often!

This is an excellent opportunity for us as a community, to showcase our Southern Hospitality! These folks will be shopping in our shops, eating in our restaurants, and staying in our hotels. The bottom line is that this TRI Rally could prove very beneficial for the Sikeston-Miner area, economically speaking. It is my hope that you will come out and participate! For businesses with Marquee Signs….let the Trikers know that they are welcome!
