EAST PRAIRIE -- Alvin Eugene Davis, 91, died at 5:55 p.m. July 17, 2008, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Sept. 18, 1916, in Manila, Ark., to the late James Abner and Mamie Mary Elizabeth Smith Davis, he had lived in Mississippi County since 1966 after moving from Trumann, Ark. He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist belief.
In 1939, he married Maudie Myrle Ware who preceded him in death on Dec. 18, 1985. On Aug. 11, 1988, he married Ruby Hager who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son and daughter-in-law, Harold and LaVera Davis of LIttle Rock, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Wallace Kellams of Portageville; three stepsons, David Irby of St. Charles, Larry Gene Irby of Kirkwood and Richard Irby of Ft. Collins, Colo.; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kirk Davis; and three brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is scheduled at 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday with George White officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Ricky Ashcraft, Gene Cade, Kenny Keck, Jon Hutcheson, Rowe Jackson, Larry Irby and Richard Irby.
