SIKESTON -- Anita Marie Woods, 86, died Saturday, July 19, 2008, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.
Born June 26, 1922, in Sikeston, daughter of the late Gene Beal and Hattie Andres Dye, she was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Sikeston, a volunteer at Missouri Delta Medical Center and had served as district representative for the Gray Ladies.
On June 21, 1936, she married Stanley Woods, who preceded her in death in 1996.
She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Frank Dye, who helped raise her; and one sister, Delores Canoy.
Survivors include: one son, Norman Woods of Sikeston; one daughter, Linda Markel of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Michael Woods of Jackson, Kara Still of Steele, Matthew Markel of Fort Walton Beach, Fla. and Judy Ellison of St. Louis; and four great-grandchildren, Dustin Woods, Madison Friend, Jonathan Ellison and Arianna Ellison.
Friends may call from 1 p.m until time of funeral services at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Dolan Rogers will officiate.
Burial will follow in Sikeston City Cemetery.
