SIKESTON - Approximately 25 members of Girl Scout Troop 13 in cooperation with the city summer recreation committee are managing activities for two days of day camp fun Monday and Tuesday at Clayton Park.

SIKESTON - Sikeston statistics from an FBI national crime report do not show the true picture, says the city's Department of Public Safety Director, Mike Phelan. Overall, comparing 1986 to 1987, serious crime increased by 14.3 percent, 12.5 more than the national figures. Increases were in auto theft, theft, assault and reported rape. "Statistics aren't indicative of the police department," said Phelan. "When people start calling, statistics go up."

SIKESTON - The Sikeston American Legion baseball squad had an extremely easy time with Poplar Bluff yesterday defeating them 9-2. After falling to Chaffee on Saturday, this one was pretty nice as they prepare to meet Bluff in the first round of the District Tournament in Cape Girardeau today.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting will be at noon Thursday at the Ramada Inn. During the meeting candidates for federal, Missouri and New Madrid and Scott County primary elections will be guests.
