CARUTHERSVILLE - Police were able to stop a suicide attempt Monday afternoon.
At 1 p.m. Monday, Caruthersville Police Officers were dispatched to Reynolds Park to investigate a suicide attempt. According to a news release, a 50-year-old man had stated he was going to jump into the river.
Upon the officers' arrival, they were forced to deploy Taser guns to subdue the subject, who had become violent, said City Marshal Chris Riggs. The man was taken to the Pemiscot County Justice Center and is being held in protective custody pending an evaluation by mental health care professionals.
