Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd said he will seek the death penalty for Vincent Minner of Matthews. Minner is charged in the Dec. 5, 2006, shooting of Michael Terry, 49, who later died from his wounds.
The trial, which will be heard in Boone County before Judge Frank Conley, is expected to last two days, Boyd said.
Terry died after he and his wife, Jennifer, were assaulted at their apartment on Davis Boulevard on Dec. 5, 2006. During the altercation, Terry received three gunshot wounds and multiple stab wounds while Mrs. Terry was also wounded in the confrontation.
The charges against Minner include first degree murder, two counts of first degree assault, one count of first degree burglary, one count of tampering with a victim/witness or attempting to temper with a victim in a felony prosecution and three counts of armed criminal action.
