SIKESTON - Davis Hart of Springfield has been hired as the coordinator for Sikeston High School and will assume his new duties here Aug. 15. He replaces M.L. Stewart, who resigned the position recently to accept a position with the Department of Education.
SIKESTON - A meeting for members of the Sikeston Junior Chamber of Commerce to prepare for the annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo will be held at 7:30 tonight at the home of Joe Marsh, 916 Hawthorne.
NEW MADRID - Construction at the New Madrid County Port Authority is under way. Located on the Mississippi River just north of Associated Electric Co., the port's building will be 25,000 square feet offering public warehousing as well as house the port's authority office. Also a public dock will be built in the slack water harbor. Port Director Bill Pinnell said the announcement of two industries to locate in the port area is expected soon. Currently the port authority is seeking state funding to provide services to the area.
SIKESTON - Cody Aldrich and Russell Hensley, both from the Sikeston YMCA Day Camp, relax in the Jaycee pool Tuesday during daycare swim. The swim is open to all daycares.

SIKESTON - After winning their district, the Sikeston Junior Babe Ruth 14 Year-Old All-Stars are headed to the State Tournament in Macon. The will play Booneville in the first round tomorrow.

CATRON - Jarrett Lawfield of Catron recently graduated with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
