SIKESTON - Phillip Barkett, 118 W. Wakefield Ave., has been named to the Dean's List at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. Barkett, a sophomore in the college of engineering, earned a 3.921 grade point average.

EAST PRAIRIE - East Prairie's Richard Gregory is not a "Mr. T" or Arnold Schwarzenegger type. The 44 year-old East Prairie police chief is not a muscle bound body guard, but more like a weekend chauffeur on volunteer basis for Charleston gubernatorial candidate Betty Hearnes. "I've known Betty and (former two-term Gov.) Warren Hearnes since the early 1950s," said Gregory.
