DEXTER -- Lela M. Dickerson, 84, died July 29, 2008, at her home.
Born April 3, 1924, at Vinson, to the late Eugene Lane and Ida Mae Cole Lane, she was a homemaker and of the Baptist belief.
On May 8, 1943, in Dexter, she married Loyd Eugene Dickerson, who died July 13, 2001.
Also preceding her in death were: her stepmother, Bertha Lane; one grandson, Rick Rhine; two brothers, Melvin Lane and Walter Lane; and two sisters, Mildred Renfro and Hazel Norman.
Survivors include: one son, Loyd Dale Dickerson of Bowling Green; three daughters, Shirley Pyles of Dexter, Jean Gowen of Albuquerque, N.M., and Linda Kay Thompson of St. Charles; one brother, Delmar Lane of Dexter; one sister, Beulah Brown of Poplar Bluff; one stepbrother, Frank Bolin of Essex; and 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Ken McAnulty will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
