ORAN -- W.O. "Dub" Turnage, 89, died July 28, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 9, 1919, at Munford, Tenn., son of the late John Henry and LIllian Bertha Adkins Turnage, he was a member of the United States Army, having served in World War II during the Battle of the Bulge and Normandy. He belonged to the Morley VFW Post 5368.
On Feb. 24, 1960, he married Katie M. Ray, who died May 17, 1992.
Two sisters and one brother also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: two sons, Jimmy (Joan) Mills of Lumberton, Miss. and Robert (Cindy) Turnage of Fairhope, Ala.; four daughters, Terri (Bob) Ressel and Lesa Gruber of Oran, Robin Gruber of Robertsdale, Ala. and Shauna (Rick) Smith of Steelville, Ill.; 18 grandchildren, Robert Mills, Kelly Mills, Bill Mason, Ken Mason, Adam Mason, Jackie Ressel, Bobbie Jo Ressel, Lucas Ressel, Jenni Ressel, Jacob Ressel, Jared Gruber, Michael Turnage, Michelle Turnage, Travis Gruber, Adam Gruber, Dalton Misuraca, R.J. Smith Jr. and Hunter Smith; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Randy Eskew will officiate.
Burial, with military graveside rites provided by the Missouri Miiltary Honors Program, will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
