Lyman Cookson

ST. CLAIR -- Lyman Cookson, 68, died Aug. 1, 2008, at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Washington.

Born July 15, 1940, in Puxico, to the late Everett and Tincy Harris Cookson, he had lived in Puxico before moving to Granite City, Ill., and had lived in St. Clair for the past several years.

Survivors include: three sons, Tim Harbin of Puxico and Scott Cookson and Brad Cookson of Granite City; one daughter, Marva Cookson of Dexter; one sister, Marvell Wheetley of Puxico; and five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dewain Cookson in 1981 and Billy Gene Cookson in 2006.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Puxico where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Chuck Clark of Union will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.
