EAST PRAIRIE -- William Franklin "Frankie" Powell, 60, formerly of Charleston, died at 7 p.m. Aug. 3, 2008 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born July 9, 1948, at St. Louis, to the late William Carman "Bill" and Betty Lee Griffin Powell, he had lived his entire life in Mississippi County where he was employed by the Missouri Department of Transportation until his retirement in 1999 and had served in the Missouri National Guard for a number of years.
On May 28, 1968, he married Sharon Lee Butler who preceded him in death on Feb. 21, 2005. On Nov. 1, 2005, he married Karen Byassee Scott who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters and sons-in-law, Leigh Ann Bone and Tim Boyer and Lisa and Chuck Simmons of Charleston; two stepsons and one daughter-in-law, Tim and Megan Parker and Aaron Scott of East Prairie; two stepdaughters and one son-in-law, Missy Givens of East Prairie and Kim and Lynn Deweese of Nevada; two sisters, Phyllis Davenport of Jackson, Tenn., and Susie Stark of Sikeston; and seven grandchildren and 10 stepgrandchildren.
One son-in-law, Mark Alton Bone, preceded him in death on Jan. 10, 2003.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will follow with full military rites provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Dustin Bone, Ethan Bone, Chad Stark, Randy Stark, Jeff Davenport, Tim Parker, Aaron Scott, Todd Palmer and Reese Palmer.
