PUXICO -- Alvin Faries, 89, died Aug. 6, 2008, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born March 19, 1919, in Mingo, to the late Ishmael B. and Maggie Pearl Knodell Faries, he had lived in the Puxico area all his life. He was a 1937 graduate of Puxico High School, a former member of the Puxico School Board and an honorary member of the FFA.
On Dec. 8, 1940, in Poplar Bluff, he married Lavada Pearl Crunk who preceded him in death on April 8, 2006.
He was also preceded in death by one son, Randy Faries; and two daughters-in-law, Janice Faries and Candy Faries.
Survivors include: two sons, Bill Faries of Puxico and Vonnie Faries of Broseley; one daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Eddie Dunivan of Puxico; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Lingafelter of Salem, Ill.; one brother, Royal Faries of Arnold; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled after 6 p.m. today at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Chapel in Puxico, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday. Dr. Danny Dunivan of Oakland City, Ind., will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Puxico Cemetery.
