SIKESTON -- Round two of the 56th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo kicked off Thursday night.
In the first event of the night, the bareback riders took the area with Royce Ford recieveing the the highest marks with an 83. Will Lowe followed close behind with an 80 while Wes Stevenson earned a 76 for third.
Shand Henderson made quick work of his run in the steer wrestling event, finishing in 4.8 seconds while barely edging out Jason Blubaugh who had a time of 4.9. Nate Camper finished the third fastest on the night at 8.7.
During the saddle bronc event, Wade Sundell took the top spot with an 81 while Tyler Corrington held on with an 80. Chad Ferley rounded out the top three with a 79.
In the down roping event, Brad Mills lassoed his steer the in 9.3 seconds. Kadin Boardman clocked in at a time of 9.8 while Bill Huber earned an time of 14.3.
Three duos roped their steer in under eight seconds in the team roping event. Will Lynd and Lang French finished the fastest at 7.3 seconds while John Paul Fowler and Sikeston's own Ty Ferrell knotted up second place at 7.7. Justin Gossett and Jeff Schneider took third at 7.9.
The ladies saddled up next for the barrel racing event with Jesse Alsup breaking the barrier the quickest at 16.73. Dalene Schober came in second at 17.15 while Lana Mohler followed closely behind at 17.19.
The final event of night featured the bull riders. Tate Stratton rode Orange Pop for the top score of the night with an 88 while J.W. Harris took on Mohigan Sun for 87. Joe Meling, riding True Believer finished third with an 86.
Tonight's action will begin at 7 p.m. at the rodeo grounds.
