Your view: Event confusion

Monday, August 11, 2008

Dear Editor,

It was stated in the Sunday, Aug. 3 paper about an event scheduled for Aug. 29-30 at the Eagles Club at 210 W. Trotter. So as not to confuse the citizens of Sikeston, this event is not sponsored by the nonprofit Return-2-Sunset organization.

This year will mark our 8th annual year. We will continue to sponsor the souvenir books and the T-shirts. The books and T-shirt purchases help to finance the organization.

Our mission statement is that we hope we can continue to bring pride to the community and all work together to make our community a clean, safe place to live and cherish the many fond memories of this Historical Sunset Community.

The event is set for Friday, Aug. 29, and is from 6 p.m. until midnight at the Clinton Building. Sharing some news with us about his business ventures is Sikestonian native, Jerry Banks. A concert is also planned, along with a meet and greet hour. Refreshments will be served.

On Saturday, Aug. 30, the festivities begin at the Roberta Rowe Park. All vendors are welcome to come and set up their booths for Friday through Sunday. Clean up will begin on Monday morning.

Thanks to the Chamber of Commerce, City of Sikeston and area businesses for your support for all these years.

Everlean Brown

Return-2-Sunset President
