SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Bob McCord are parents of a daughter born Sunday afternoon at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. This is the first child and has been named Carolyn Jean. Mrs. McCord is the former Amy Wilkinson.

SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. John Mack Cooksey, 704 Smith St., celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary at a picnic Sunday at City Park. An open house followed.

SIKESTON - Leah Belvin, 21-year-old daughter of M.W. and Detsel Belvin of Sikeston, was selected as the 1988 SIkeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo Queen Wednesday evening at the Kingsway Mall. Other winners were: 22-year-old Lisa Ruby, daughter of Bill and JoAnn Ruby of Sikeston, second runner-up; and Angela Aufdenberg, 22-year-old daughter of Ruth and Walter Aufdenburg of Jackson, first runner-up.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Eagles Club is conducting a drawing for a 1988 Dodge Ram 50 pick up truck. Proceeds go to the Kenny Rogers United Cerebral Palsy Center.

SIKESTON - Billy Smith, employee for the City of Sikeston Public Works Department, paints a cross walk on Salcedo Road Monday afternoon. Employees of the Public Works Department are preparing the cross walks for school which starts this coming Monday.

SIKESTON - With the sun shining Monday, area residents used the break in the recent rain to clean their cars and trucks. Washing a truck at Cox's Family Car Wash is Sean Taylor. Today there is a chance of showers with the highs in the mid-80s.
