SIKESTON-- Dorothy Kent, 75, died Aug. 12, 2008, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center.
Born Jan. 25, 1933, in Blytheville, Ark., to the late Rev. Robert and Pearlie Mae Johnson Gibson, she lived most of her life in Missouri. She was a former member of the Power House of God Church and was a member of the West End Missionary Baptist Church.
In 1960, she married Julius Kent who preceded her in death.
Survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Horace Gibson of Cape Girardeau and Steve and Princess Gibson of St. Louis; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Howard Walker of Chicago and Gloria and Herbert Merriweather of Sikeston; five brothers, Robert Gibson of Atlanta, the Rev. William Gibson of Marion, Ill., Asther Gibson of St. Louis, Sam Gibson of Sikeston and the Rev. James Gibson of Poplar Bluff; five sisters, Mildred Cross of Wilson City, Annie Pickett, Robbie Aldridge and Mary Blunt of St. Louis and Ruth Cole of Oklahoma City; and 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from noon until time for services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Yarber, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
