Sikeston R-6 information clarified

Thursday, August 14, 2008

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston R-6 Board of Education approved during its regular session Tuesday a random drug testing policy for only students who participate in extracurricular activities regulated by the Missouri State High School Activities Association, excluding all activities in which students receive an academic grade for their participation. Like all other Missouri public school districts, Sikeston R-6 already had in place a suspicion-based drug testing policy before adopting the random drug testing policy on Tuesday.

The information was incorrect in Wednesday's Standard Democrat. We regret the error.
