NEW MADRID -- Clara Mae Willis, 77, died Aug. 14, 2008, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Dec. 1, 1930, at Fraley, to the late Elmer and Dorothy Grimes Kelley, she was a member of the New Madrid Baptist Church for 43 years, serving as Sunday school teacher for 15 years. She was a Girl Scout leader for 12 years, camp director for two years and neighborhood chairman for two years.
On Oct. 26, 1947, she married Elmer Roy Willis Jr., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 9, 2007.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Thadaus Kelley, Junior Ray Kelley and Fred Kelley.
Survivors include: two daughters and a son-in-law, Dorothy Chamberlain and Rosa and John Langley of New Madrid; one son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Linda Willis of New Madrid; four sisters, Emma Jean Pool, Freida Persley, Alice Langley and Dorothy "Bea" Brown; two brothers, Ernest Kelley and Starlin Kelley; eight grandchildren, Tammy Beaird and Tonya Langley Darnell of Herculaneum, Steven Chamberlain, Sean Langley, Tony Langley, Chuck Langley and Christina Willis Tanner of New Madrid and Debbie Willis Smith of Tyler, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren, Brittany Keith, Christopher Beaird, Jonathan Langley, Dalton Langley and Maggie Langley of New Madrid, Cole Darnell of Herculaneum, Noah Phelps, Isabella Phelps, Madison Phelps, Maxwell Chamberlain and Michael Dunlap of New Madrid; and three great-great-grandchildren, Justin Keith, Lindsey Keith and Jake Smith of Tyler.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the New Madrid Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Lancaster officiating.
Burial will follow in the Mounds Park Cemetery near Lilbourn.
