Sikeston moving on

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- Tyler Anderson pitched a complete game and had two hits to lead Sikeston over the Greenville, N.C. (Southeast) team 8-6 on Tuesday afternoon. The win by the Sikeston squad clinched a spot in the single elimination bracket in Jamestown's 13-Year-Old Babe Ruth World Series.

Anderson went seven innings, giving up five earned and striking out four while also having a 2-for-3 day at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI.

Sikeston (3-1) put four runners across in the top of the first inning, aided by RBI singles by Anderson and teammate Josh King. Anderson currently sits atop the World Series leaderboard with seven hits and King is the current RBI leader with seven as well.

Sikeston's Josh Hampton also had two hits on the day while Andrew Harper and Trey Tigart each had two RBIs.

Sikeston has finished their pool play schedule and could be seeded either number one or two in the American Division and will advance to the single elimination tournament.

Jehneil House was 2-for-4 with two doubles for the Southeast and DeOnte' Mullins reached base safely in all four of his plate appearances from the lead off spot, scoring twice and stealing two bases.

The Southeast (1-2) plays their final pool play game on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. against the Middle Atlantic.
