Born June 9, 1933, in Luxora, Ark., daughter of the late Harvey and Maggie Mae (Manning) Parker Sr., she was of the Baptist belief and had worked as a licensed practical nurse for St. Joseph Hospital in St. Charles.
On Jan. 24, 1951, she married Robert Ray Thurston; he preceded her in death.
Also preceding her in death were: one son, Ronald Thurston; two daughters, Dawn Thurston and Janice Thurston; one brother, Junior Harvey Parker; and two sisters, Mary Juanita Parker and LaVerne Mertz.
Survivors include: one son, Edward Thurston of O'Fallon; five brothers, Russell Parker of Essex, Joe Parker of Sikeston, Eddie Parker of Nashville, Tenn., Sherman Parker of St. Louis and William Parker of Marble Hill; three sisters, Ila Mae Parker of Sullivan, Alice Smotherman of Waynesboro, Tenn., and Bonnie Sue Ethridge of Sikeston; and eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Ponder Funeral Home. No services will be conducted.
