IDALIA -- Christine Baker, 86, died Aug. 26, 2008, at her home in Idalia.

Born Feb. 1, 1922, in Vanduser, daughter of the late R. L. and Lottie Caroline Kenneday Towery, she was of the Church of Christ belief and a member of the Order of Eastern Star.

On Dec. 25, 1939, in Caruthersville, she married Joseph Allen Baker Sr., who preceded her in death on March 11, 2000.

Three brothers, Raymond Towery, Lyman Towery and Reith Towery; and two sisters, Susie Marshall and Jaunita Minich, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include: one son, Dr. Joseph Allen Baker Jr. of Dexter; one daughter, Pamela Manwaring of Sikeston; four grandchildren, Shawn Allen Baker of Dexter, Rodger D. Manwaring of St. Louis, Heather Baker Hopper of Reagan, Tenn. and Kevin James Baker of St. Peters; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter with an Order of Eastern Star service to be conducted at 7 p.m.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with Dale Grissom officiating.

Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield.
