Columbia -- The Missouri State High School Activities Association announced the host site for 2008 State Championships for all four classes today. After weighing the proposals from Columbia , Springfield and St. Joseph , the MSHSAA Board of Directors voted unanimously via conference call to move the championship to St. Joseph for two years, followed by two years in Springfield.
Heritage Park in St. Joseph will host all four state softball championships for the 2008 and 2009 campaigns. Heritage Park is a five field complex located on the city's northwest side, next to the Missouri River . All five fields have "championship level" MUSCO lighting system. This state-of-the-art system will make night play more enjoyable and safe. These lights will be illuminating infields made up of existing sand, clay and imported west Texas Red Clay.
