LILBOURN -- Cecil B. "Preach" Atchley, 90, died at 3:20 p.m. Aug. 29, 2008, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Oct. 24, 1917, in Matthews, he was the son of the late Noah and Carrie Gibson Atchley.
On May 16, 1942, he married Ruby Christine Smith who preceded him in death on July 11, 1997.
Survivors include: eight sons and seven daughter-in-laws, Larry and Joyce Atchley of Malden, Mikel and Kim Atchley of Festus, Travis and Rita Atchley of Willard, Glynn and Debbie Atchley and Vince Atchley of Columbia, Ill., Lynn and Joan Atchley of Benton, Elvis and Sabrina Atchley of Portageville and Brian and Debbie Atchley of Poplar Bluff; four daughters, Blendia (Bob) Phelps of New Madrid, Janice Roth (Ron Barone) of Metarie, La., Sherrie Crouthers of Sikeston and Karen (Robert) Clay of Marston; and 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Bob Medlock officiating.
Burial will follow in the Matthews Cemetery.
