SIKESTON - Dorothy Dean Clayton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O.D.Clayton, celebrated her 10th birthday Friday with a party.

Sept. 9, 1968

SIKESTON - The total enrollment at Sikeston High School this year is 1,313. Last year the total enrollment was 844 in grades 10-12, principal Roger Sherman reported.

Sept. 9, 1988

SIKESTON - The award-winning Sikeston High School varsity cheerleaders, who have been practicing all summer under the supervision of sponsor Wanda Throop, are prepared to lead the Bulldogs to many football victories this year with chants, cheers and driving pompon routines.

MORLEY - Things are now quiet in Morley. However that wasn't the case a week ago. On Sept. 2, the small Scott County community was pelted with a reported 7 1/2-inches of rain, which created flooded conditions. The flooding has become a common occurrence, but some Morley residents believe their problem wasn't as pronounced until the Scott County Landfill was built on a hill near the area and view the problem in a pair of drainage ditches which won't allow water to escape.

SIKESTON - The public is invited to hear minister James A. Green preached his first sermon on Sunday at noon at Green Memorial Church of God in Christ. Green is the son of Viola Taylor of Sikeston.

SIKESTON - The City of Sikeston declared Sept. 8 World Literacy Day in Sikeston, joining with the Altrusa International Inc. of Sikeston.
