ESSEX -- Elmer J. Sanders, 82, died Sept. 10, 2008, at the Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter.
Born May 22, 1926, in Gray Ridge, to the late Elmer Louis and Bessie Irene Presell Sanders, he had lived most of his life in the Essex area where he was a retired farm laborer and of the Pentecostal belief.
On Nov. 3, 1948, in Piggott, Ark., he married Clara Jane King who preceded him in death in Feb. 1987.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Cindy Blackwell; four sisters, Mildred Williams, Anna Lea Duley, Wilma Jean Alberson and Martha DeSmyther; two brothers, James Sanders and Charles Dee Sanders; and two grandchildren.
Survivors include: four sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Vickie Sanders of Essex and Bill and Renita Sanders, Delbert and Pam Sanders and Adam and Lyn Sanders of Dexter; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Checo Romero and Dorthia and Mike Hess of Dexter; one sister, Geraldine Duncan of Bloomfield; three brothers, Doyle Sanders, Roy Sanders and Donnie Sanders of Essex; and 24 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Danny Collins of Qulin will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
