Carolyn VanPool

SIKESTON -- Carolyn Sue VanPool, 61, died at 8 p.m. Sept. 11, 2008, at Miner Nursing Center.

Born Oct. 17, 1946, in Bertrand, daughter of Betty Lou Bishop VanPool of Miner and the late Wilbur Hershal VanPool, she had been a waitress and was in the ladies auxiliary of the Sikeston Eagles Club and American Legion Post 114.

Besides her mother, survivors include: two sons, Lawrence Tyra and Lee Tyra of Sikeston; two daughters, Patty Penrod of Sikeston and Joyce West of Poplar Bluff; one brother, Larry VanPool of Fruitland; six grandchildren, Brittany Miller and Kaleb West of Poplar Bluff, Justin Penrod of Charleston, Brandon Penrod of Sikeston and Chelsie Tyra and Cody Tyra of Morehouse; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Miller and Audrey Miller of Poplar Bluff.

One sister, Ruth Graham, preceded her in death on Jan. 21, 2008.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. Monday until service time at 2 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Gaylon Butler of Sikeston will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: Justin Penrod, Brandon Penrod, Kaleb West, Derec Tyra, Kyle VanPool and Ryan Gremard.
