BLOOMFIELD -- Mary Lavern Smith, 85, died Sept. 14, 2008, at the Golden Living Center in Bloomfield.
Born April 21, 1923, at Swinton, to the late Finnis and Mary Bruster Moore, she spent most of her life in the Acorn Ridge community. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomfield, a 50-year member of the Puxico Order of Eastern Star Chapter 322 and was retired from the Elder Manufacturing Company in Bloomfield.
On Feb. 29, 1943, she married Bud Smith, who preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1998.
She was also preceded in death by one son, Terry Smith; one brother, Rogers Moore; and one sister, Betty Elmore.
Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Monehan of Bloomfield; two grandchildren, Keri Teel of Dexter and Rachel Smith of St. Louis; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Teel and Seth Teel of Dexter.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. today at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Eastern Star services to be conducted at 7 p.m. by the Puxico Eastern Star. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Louie Lowe officiating.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
