Sikeston netters fall at home to Lady Mules

Charleston tennis and Dexter volleyball victorious

SIKESTON-- The Sikeston Lady Bulldog Tennis team fell to the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules Monday 7-1.

Sikeston's lone victory in the home meet came from Jacarra Lampkin, who defeated Poplar Bluff's Jessica Gray 8-5 in their singles match.

"Jacarra (Lampkin) had a great singles match," Sikeston tennis coach Lynne DeWitt said. "She fought hard and won."

DeWitt was pleased with the output of her entire team.

"We saw improvement in every match," she said.

In singles action, Jacarra Lampkin (S) def. Jessica Gray (PB) 8-5, Jenni Hubbard (PB) def. Caroline Murray (S) 8-5, Allie Poteet (PB) def. Erica Garrett (S) 8-1, Kelsey Olsen (PB) def. Brooke Partridge (S) 8-1, Rachel Brodell (PB) def. Jessica Hutchcraft (S) 8-0 and Emily Gilmore (PB) def. Rachel Murphy (S) 8-0.

In doubles play, the team of Gray-Poteet (PB) def. Lampkin- Murray (S) 8-4, Olsen-Hubbard (PB) def. Garrett-Partridge (S) 8-1 and Brodell-Gilmore (PB) def. Hutchcraft-Murphy (S) in the final match 8-1.

Girls Tennis

Charleston 6, Dexter 3

CHARLESTON -- The Charleston Lady Bluejay tennis team defeated the Dexter Lady Bearcats 6-3 in Charleston on Monday.

In singles play, Katelyn Heil (D) def. Jordan Duenne (C) 8-6, Catherine Kinchen (D) def. Chelsea Stallings (C) 8-5, Maggie Fox (C) def. Julie Bell (D) 8-0, Morgan Collier (C) def. Jill Temples (D) 8-1 and Madeline Burke (C) def. Audra Lasater (D) 8-6. Charleston won the sixth match by forfeit.

In doubles action, Duenne-Stallings (C) def. Heil-Kinchen 9-7, Bell-Temples (D) def. Fox-Collier (C) 8-5 and Charleston won the third match by forfeit.

VOLLEYBALL

Dexter 25-18, 28-26 over Bloomfield

DEXTER -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats volleyball team defeated the Bloomfield Lady Wildcats 25-18,28-26 in Dexter on Monday. The Lady Bearcats move to a record of 7-2-1 with the win.

"I'm proud of the way the girls fought it out until the end," Dexter volleyball coach Kristen Vandeven said. "Bloomfield turned it on at the end, but our girls hung in and finished strong.We've been trying to focus on keeping the momentum on our side, and the girls did a nice job of that tonight."

Cathryn Heil led the Lady Bearcats statistically with eight kills, one ace, two digs, three blocks, and seven assists.

Rounding out the stats for Dexter, Brittany Bedford had two aces and 11 digs, Elisha Flanigan had five digs, Kayla Joyner had five digs, McKenzie Mitchell had three blocks, Jessica Satterfield had seven kills, two digs and five assists and Abbie Warren had two kills, four digs and six blocks.
